Electrical Engineer (LV&MV)

<p><strong>Location</strong><strong>:</strong> Sines or Remote</p> <h4>About the job:</h4> <p>The <strong>Electrical Engineer (LV &amp; MV)</strong> supports the design, implementation, and operation of electrical systems that power our large-scale data centers. Reporting to the <strong>Senior Electrical Engineer</strong>, this role is critical in ensuring electrical safety, reliability, and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle - from concept and design to commissioning and operation.</p> <p>This function works closely with design consultants, contractors, and internal teams to deliver best-in-class electrical systems across Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) networks (non-proficient High Voltage support may also be required to support the team).&nbsp;</p> <p>Cross functional activities are required in three main domains: “Datacenter Core Systems”, “Buildings” and “Substations”.</p> <h4>Responsibilities:</h4> <p><strong>Design &amp; Engineering</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Support the design, review, and validation of electrical systems for data centers, covering LV,MV and HV distribution networks (proficient in LV and MV)..</li> <li>Participate in the development of single-line diagrams (SLDs), cable routing, and protection schemes.</li> <li>Collaborate with design consultants and vendors to ensure technical specifications meet project and operational requirements.</li> <li>Assist in defining design standards, technical specifications, and best practices for scalability and energy efficiency.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Project Execution</strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide technical input and supervision during procurement, installation, and commissioning phases.</li> <li>Review contractor designs, material submittals, and method statements for compliance with design intent and regulations.</li> <li>Conduct site inspections and testing (FAT, SAT, and commissioning).</li> <li>Support troubleshooting and resolution of electrical issues during construction and operation.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Operations &amp; Maintenance Support</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assist in the transition from construction to operations, including documentation and training handovers.</li> <li>Contribute to the development of maintenance procedures and electrical safety protocols.</li> <li>Participate in root-cause analyses for electrical incidents or performance issues.</li> <li>Ensure all work complies with IEC standards, local regulations, and company safety policies.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Cross-functional Collaboration</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work closely with mechanical, civil, and controls engineering teams to ensure systems integration and performance optimization.</li> <li>Support sustainability initiatives, including power usage effectiveness (PUE) optimization and renewable integration.</li> <li>Liaise with utility providers and grid operators as needed for MV connections and upgrades.</li> </ul> <h4>Preferred Qualifications &amp; Skills:</h4> <ul> <li>Degree in <strong>Electrical Engineering</strong> or related field.</li> <li><strong>3–6 years</strong> of relevant experience in electrical design, construction, or maintenance, ideally in <strong>data centers</strong>, <strong>industrial</strong>, or <strong>energy infrastructure</strong> environments.</li> <li>Solid knowledge of <strong>LV &amp; MV distribution systems</strong>, switchgear, transformers, and protection systems.</li> <li>Familiarity with <strong>IEC standards</strong> and Portuguese electrical regulations.</li> <li>Proficiency with electrical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP, or similar).</li> <li>Strong command of <strong>English</strong> and <strong>Portuguese</strong> (written and spoken).</li> </ul> <div> <p><strong>Why You'll Love It Here:<br></strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Impact</strong>: Lead world class operations at Europe’s largest and most sustainable data center.</li> <li><strong>Collaboration</strong>: Work closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to business development.</li> <li><strong>Flexibility</strong>: Empowered to lead with autonomy and creativity in a fast-paced, client-centric environment.</li> <li><strong>Growth</strong>: Join a company committed to innovation, professional development, and service excellence.</li> </ul> <p><strong>About Us:<br></strong>At Start Campus, we provide mission-critical data center services that power businesses globally.
