About the role
Job Summary:
In striving to teach truth, equip generations and change the world for God’s glory, the elementary school teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality instruction and learning activities, overseeing the classroom, ensuring students have opportunities to achieve their highest potential, and managing assessment of student progress. You will educate children in the classroom and outside, meet with students and parents to discuss education-related issues, and attend staff meetings. You will establish an engaging, developmentally appropriate, positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
Duties & Responsibilities: As Classroom Teacher
- Demonstrate Christ-likeness in your interactions with colleagues, students and parents
- Integrate a Christian Philosophy of Education into the way you teach, how you manage the class and how you administer behaviour management strategies
- Develop a class environment that is supportive of each student’s learning, both academically and holistically
- Integrate Christian teaching, values and principles into the curriculum
- Use proactive classroom management strategies as much as possible in order to prevent negative behaviour
- Ensure that a full curriculum is delivered for each core subject taught using the Cambridge objectives highlighted in the Cambridge-endorsed Collins curriculum provided
- Create separate weekly lesson plans for each of Bingham’s core subjects: English, Mathematics and Science. These are to be engaging, educational, and exciting for the students; taking different forms of learning and different abilities into consideration
- Be well prepared before teaching each lesson
- Undertake a full range of formative evaluation, assessment and monitoring of students in accordance with school guidelines and the Cambridge syllabus (where applicable). Use these assessments to inform further planning
- Administer and mark/grade summative assessments at the end of the year to confirm your discernment of each child’s learning and ability at that stage
- Communicate, plan and collaborate with your teaching assistant on a regular basis (where applicable). Include them as a co-teacher into your lessons
- Supervise and provide regular feedback to your teaching assistant (where applicable)
- Work alongside the Learning Support Department to provide appropriate support to children in your class who are not meeting the objectives
- Facilitate open, engaging and positive communication between students, parents and staff
- Provide parents with regular feedback on how their child is progressing. Provide suggestions for how they can help their child improve
- Participate in professional development to update and refine knowledge and skills including teaching methods; assessment; Christian Philosophy of Education and Biblical Worldview.
- Participate in whole staff and faculty meetings as scheduled
- Participate in compulsory whole school events such as Field Day
- Participate in additional school activities outside of class time according to interest and need.
- Actively supervise students during breaks and before/after school as scheduled
- Collaborate in the development of team and school plans and programs
- Perform your duties efficiently and effectively, with honesty, integrity and fairness at all times
- Organise the milestone “grade level event” for your grade
- Organise an annual field trip for your grade
- Perform other tasks as assigned

- Participate in student chapel regularly
- Participate in school activities outside of class time according to interest and need
- Actively supervise students during breaks and before/after school as scheduled
- Comply with reasonable directions given by a supervisor/principal/leadership

Terms of Service:
- Working hours: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm
- When sick or in an emergency you will inform your supervisor…………………. Put a request through Bamboo HR.
- Except for emergencies, do not use your personal phone to check social media etc. while on duty
- The rules and regulations in the employee /staff handbook are part of the terms of service
- Maintain proper certification (ie. ACSI certifications, teaching licenses, etc.), as relevant, in order to keep your work permit
- Consult HR and your supervisor before planning Special Leave or Extended Leave
