If you're hungry to engineer something that matters, Scout Motors is where that ambition finds its highest gear.  Scout Motors is seeking a technical lead to drive module software requirements across the vehicle.  The feature/function requirements decomposed to the module-level need to be captured and managed formally in QLAH, which will include subsystem block diagrams, main components, connectivity, power paths, communication buses, interface relationships, data/control flow, and a signal-level block diagram including all input/output signals.  Network management and modes clarity is a focus domain including network management, sleep/wake-up, vehicle mode support (Service, Transport, Production, OTA) and booting process for each module.  You will become the subject matter expert (SME) for module software requirements and will coach design and release engineers across the organization. You will need to develop strong relationships across the hardware team, system engineers and feature/function owners.  The ideal candidate has deep experience delivering quality requirements and establishing engineering governance with digital thread tools.   Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following: <ul> <li>Functional Safety Strategy and Governance: Lead team and enforce process and key performance indicators for FuSa delivery across the vehicle </li> <li>Feature/Function Requirements Custodian: Act as the primary lead/coach for requirement quality, failure analysis, and process discipline including repository best practices </li> <li>Serve as System Authority: Govern execution of interfaces architecture, integration readiness across hardware, software, controls and connectivity domains </li> <li>Constraint Custodian: Recognize system-level constraints (compute, timing, power, performance, reliability) as feature/function requirements develop from customer use cases through decomposition to electronic modules </li> <li>Mentor: Build, mentor and scale multi-disciplinary system/feature team </li> <li>Governance Master: Establish engineering governance, design reviews and technical decision-making frameworks to support timely vehicle system execution  </li> <li>Quality Orchestration Shifted Left: Use system experience to drive architectural enhancements to improve quality through diagnostics and preventative maintenance </li> <li>Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as the primary liaison between Architecture and cross-domain Systems Engineering teams to resolve "blockers" </li> <li>Precision Communication: Translating complex technical risks into clear "Go/No-Go" decisions for executive stakeholders. </li> <li>Process Architect: A passion for automating manual workflows to reduce human error in the release chain. </li> <li>Technical Interface: Interface with electrical design teams, software developers, calibration engineers, and supplier integration teams to align dependencies. </li> </ul> Location & Travel Expectations: <ul> <li>This role may be based out of the Scout Motors corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC. </li> <li>This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events. </li> <li>Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.</li> </ul> <h4>What you’ll bring </h4> We expect all Scout employees to have integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, and strive to exhibit a positive attitude, as well as a growth mindset. Here's what else you'll bring:  <ul> <li>Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 12+ yrs. of experience </li> <li>Expert at automotive system/platform development and modeling particularly in the early part of the “System V” </li> <li>Experience delivering platforms reused across multiple Vehicle programs </li> <li>Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or advanced mobility systems </li> <li>Background with cloud-connected embedded systems and modern DevOps pipelines </li> <li>Expert in vehicle electrical architecture/topology and ECU-level software stacks, automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet), UDS diagnostics (ISO 14229) and diagnostic communication tools </li> <li>Strong knowledge of Jira, GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, and Artifactory.ALM/PLMProficiency in Siemens Polarion, IBM DOORS Next Gen, or PTC Windchill. </li> <li>Strong understanding, development and verification of plant and control models in MATLAB/Simulink for execution in hardware in the loop test environment, dSpace control desk and automation desk   </li> <li>Strong understanding of 1st principles in Engineering, result/solution oriented.  </li> <li>Familiarity with SW for embedded systems, EE systems and architecture  </li> <li>Familiarity with A2B, CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, LVDS communication protocols and Vehicle Network tools, such as CANalyzer, CANoe, etc.‚ </li> <li>Expertise with complex problem solving, data analysis, access/interpret/drive results with extended teams.  </li> <li>Knowledge of Automotive design and development process, system requirements, and general engineering best practices  </li> <li>Recognized system/controls industry thought leader (awards, keynote speaking, standards participation </li> </ul> <h4>What you'll gain</h4> The benefits of joining Scout include the chance to build products and a company from the ground up.  This is a chance to create something new and lasting – with an iconic brand at its foundation.  In addition, Scout provides competitive compensation and benefits to support your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing.
