About the role

About Lumilens

At Lumilens we are building the critical photonics infrastructure that powers tomorrow’s AI supercomputing. From chip-to-chip optical interconnects to scalable photonic engines, Lumilens is unlocking a new era of computing faster, cooler, and massively more efficient.

We’re a well-funded startup backed by Mayfield and led by veterans who’ve built and scaled some of the most transformative technologies in the industry. This isn’t incremental innovation, it’s a ground-floor opportunity to rethink the optical layer from the silicon up. You’ll work alongside a team of world-class engineers solving some of the hardest challenges in optics, systems, and scale. Every line of code, every design decision, every breakthrough you help deliver will shape the infrastructure of tomorrow.

If you're looking for mission, momentum, and the chance to make an outsized impact, jump on the rocket ship. We’re just getting started.

Position Overview

You will be responsible for building diagnostics and manufacturing software to design, test, and manufacture cutting-edge photonics products for the data center. This person will work closely with other optical transceiver engineering disciplines on projects from conception to the final production stage, helping us deliver our family of optical transceiver solutions to the market.

The role requires a strong and broad software background and a good understanding of hardware design and manufacturing practices. At the same time, we welcome candidates with deep experience in similar areas who desire to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement & test manufacturing tests to validate mass production of photonics products for the data center.

  • Design and implement high-level software abstractions for low-level hardware.

  • Develop reusable test scripts and modules to validate firmware behavior, execute regression suites, support new product introduction (NPI) testing and hardware bring-up.

  • Isolate and perform root-cause analysis of reported failures

  • Monitor, collect, and analyze data to identify and address issues, and propose solutions to enhance system reliability and efficiency.

  • Integrate with databases or dashboards for test result visualization and analytics

  • Analyze Factory processes, systems, and workflows to identify areas for improvement and optimization.

  • Collaborate with vendors and partners to evaluate, select, and implement new factory systems or software/firmware upgrades.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field

  • 10+ years of experience across embedded software development, software testing and test automation.

  • Prior experience with optical transceiver validation, CMIS protocol, or related hardware.

  • Strong proficiency in C# or Python.

  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams

  • Prefer experience with test automation frameworks like PyVISA, and exposure to test-equipment such as bit error rate testers, digital communication analyzers, laser sources, power meters and optical spectrum analyzers.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance

  • Professional development opportunities and certification support

  • Access to cutting-edge technology and cloud platforms

  • Collaborative work environment with cross-functional teams
