Engineering Manager

<p><strong>What you will be doing:</strong></p> <p>We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to join our innovative Tech Team. You will collaborate across functions, engaging in both the design and implementation of high-performance systems crucial for detecting financial risks.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>As an Engineering Manager, you will:&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Take ownership for your team, being responsible for current team members growth and development, plus hiring and onboarding new team members&nbsp;</li> <li>Foster a positive and thriving work environment that promotes innovation.</li> <li>Mentor and coach your team, maintaining a learning mindset and openness to new ideas and technologies.</li> <li>Set the direction for your team and take accountability for tech decisions.&nbsp;</li> <li>Work alongside with your product counterpart, being accountable for delivery against the roadmap.</li> <li>Collaborate, both within your team and across the tribe to ensure your team’s implementation meets industry standards.</li> <li>Report to the Director of Engineering, and will work with the other Engineering Managers in the tribe.&nbsp; Working as a group, you will own cross-team initiatives and improvements.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Our Tech Stack:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Our technology stack is designed to run on public cloud architectures, notably AWS and GCP</li> <li>Development is organised around Kotlin and Python for our backend languages and TypeScript/ES6+React for our frontend stack</li> <li>We make substantial use of relational database technologies, notably Postgres, Yugabyte</li> <li>We also use an event-sourced model powered by Kafka for our communication bus and gRPC for our intra-service communication protocol</li> <li>We use modern observability solutions from Grafana Cloud and deploy our code using ArgoCD</li> </ul> <p>We have a strong emphasis on engineering excellence and strive to ship the best possible code and the best possible solutions to our customers</p> <p><strong>About you</strong></p> <p><strong>As an Engineering Manager, you will have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Proven experience in managing and growing high-performing engineering teams.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of engineering best practices, including architecture and testing.</li> <li>Past or current experience in a JVM-based language or Python.</li> <li>Experience with data-intensive applications and relational databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle).</li> <li>Expertise in designing and building microservices.</li> <li>Excellent communication and writing skills, including the ability to write clear technical documentation.</li> <li>Experience collaborating with product and commercial teams.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Nice to haves:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience with AWS and Docker/Kubernetes.</li> <li>Background in startup or scale-up environments</li> </ul> <p>If you are passionate about leading teams, driving technical excellence, and working in a collaborative environment, we would love to hear from you!
