About the role

Purpose of the Position

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overall management of the VCSEL Butterfly product development, design and sustaining engineering, and technical support throughout the lifecycle of the products. This position is also responsible for design of Photonic Integrated Circuits (PIC) used in laser components and module products.

Working with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers including wafer fabrication engineers, software/database engineers, testing engineers, and manufacturing personnel, this position leads and manages the VCSEL butterfly device product engineering group that is responsible for developing initial prototypes and releasing into manufacturing with good yield and cost that meet the customer’s specifications.

Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:

• Manages VCSEL butterfly product engineering and their manufacturing procedures based on the requirements from various internal and external customers.

• Lead the team to implement the product design within the schedule and budget parameters.

• Guides projects through prototyping, testing, creating bill of material and defining manufacturing procedures as part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process for VCSEL butterfly products.

• Lead the manufacturing team to ensure product is fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design.

• Lead the team to drive continuous improvement by evaluating the current process and proposing process change.

• Develops, maintains and communicates project schedules and conducts periodic meetings both with the leadership team and with the product engineering team.

In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for:

• Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.

• Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.

Physical Activities: Work may be active, could stand or sit for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times. The employee may lift or move objects up to 20 pounds. Employees must grasp, manipulate, or assemble parts and components that are often very small. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, may be noisy at times. Must be able to wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment such as but not limited to masks, glasses, gloves, and specialty garments. The required PPE and training allow for the safe handling and processing of chemicals like adhesives, lubricants and solvents, and safe operation of job-related equipment and tools. .

Requirements

Qualifications

Experience:

·       Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience designing and developing VCSEL butterfly devices.

·       Minimum 2 years of engineering management experience or similar leadership role in the industry.

·       Minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience designing photonics integrated circuits

·       Demonstrated track record of delivering VCSEL butterfly products from prototype to final products.

·       Hands-on experience with fiber optics including commonly-used test equipment, debugging methods, and optoelectronic components.

Education:

MS or Higher Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Ph.D. is preferred.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

·       Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills.

·       Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Good planning, prioritizing and organization and multiple priority management skills.

·       Demonstrated knowledge of VCSEL device physics.

·       Strong drive and initiative to make improvements in a variety of areas with a minimum of supervision.

·       Strong commitment to personal development and growth

Job Type - Full Time

$135,170 - $143,000 annually D.O.E
