About the role
What You'll Do
- Own Mexico-based events end-to-end - intake, brief, on-site execution (for high-staked events), and post-event reconciliation - holding timeline, scope, budget, and client experience throughout.
- Be the primary point of contact for clients across all Mexico programs, leading pre-event alignment, kick-offs with SAT Mexico, mid-event check-ins, and post-event debriefs.
- Own the day-to-day relationship with SAT Mexico through bi-weekly market catch-ups, event-specific check-ins, and quarterly partnership reviews.
- Source venues, activities, and suppliers for each event, negotiating commercial terms that balance client savings, Planned's margin, and long-term partner relationships - in Mexico, the relationship is the contract.
- Develop new partnerships across Mexico City, Cancún, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, and Guadalajara to expand Planned's reach over time.
- Partner with our supply team to vet, onboard, and populate Mexico-based suppliers - including informal vendor ecosystems (no websites, agency-only bookings) - and build a market pricing baseline so we can spot anomalies and quote with confidence.
- Translate local realities - legal, financial, cultural - into actionable inputs for Sales, CS, Supply, and Finance, and flag risks early (safety, supplier reliability, regulatory shifts, currency exposure) with mitigations.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years in event management, hospitality operations, or DMC environments, with a clear track record executing complex, multi-day programs for corporate clients.
- Native or fully professional Spanish and English, written and spoken - most local communication happens in Spanish, often via WhatsApp; client communication is in English.
- Deep familiarity with the Mexican event ecosystem - venues, suppliers, transportation, and how business actually gets done in this market.
- Commercial instincts - you're comfortable negotiating contracts, pricing, and partnership terms with both vendors and enterprise clients, and you protect margin without burning relationships.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity - Mexico doesn't run by U.S. rules, and you'll be writing the playbook as much as following it.
- Based in Mexico (Mexico City strongly preferred), with willingness to travel domestically for events and vendor site visits
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience working with U.S.-based clients or in a U.S./Mexico cross-border operating model.
- Existing relationships with established DMCs, hotels, or premium venues across major Mexican destinations.
- A background that combines event execution with business development or partnerships - not just one or the other.
- Familiarity with Mexican invoicing, taxation, and local compliance realities.
- Experience with platforms or marketplaces, and a sense of what makes supplier data structured and useful.
