Fabrication Estimator

We are seeking a meticulous and proactive **Fabrication Estimator** to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, drafting experience, estimating/costing, and excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with suppliers and team members. This role also involves preparing estimates, a skill that can be easily learned with a drafting background.

Tasks

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and scope of work to prepare accurate project cost estimates for industrial and fabrication projects.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements accurately.
• Utilize AutoCAD and other relevant software to analyze and extract necessary information from technical drawings.
• Prepare comprehensive material, labor, and equipment cost breakdowns, factoring in fabrication methods, time frames, and project complexity.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain material pricing and ensure up-to-date pricing databases.
• Participate in project planning meetings, providing insights into estimation accuracy and potential challenges.

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Ability to understand the whole scope.
• Background in steel fabrication. Mining industry is a plus.
• Ability to coordinate with different stakeholders.
• Proven experience in project estimation within the industrial fabrication sector.
• Experience in mining industry estimation is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards.
• Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Willing to take a simple test job.
• Good work ethics or a positive attitude toward work.
• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
• Relevant training certifications related to fabrication or estimating.
• Proven track record with a portfolio of completed projects.
