Job Summary & Purpose
The Facilities Assistant supports the care, functionality, and readiness of the Main 70,000-square-foot church campus and additional Greenhouse campuses in Gainesville. This role helps ensure that the facility is well-maintained, safe, and properly prepared for weekly services, ministry activities, and large church events. The Facilities Assistant plays an important role in supporting the church’s mission by helping to create a welcoming and well-maintained environment for congregants, volunteers, and guests.
Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities include basic maintenance and repairs, event setup and teardown.
Facility Maintenance & Upkeep
- Perform routine facility maintenance including minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep of the building and grounds
- Assist with maintenance of lighting, plumbing fixtures, doors, hardware, furniture, and other facility components
- Monitor facility conditions and proactively identify maintenance needs or potential issues using the current software platform.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, equipment, and tools
Event & Ministry Support
- Set up and tear down rooms for ministry gatherings, classes, and weekly church activities
- Prepare spaces for large events, conferences, and special services
- Ensure all spaces are clean, safe, and properly configured for scheduled activities
- Support & collaborate with ministry teams with logistical needs related to facility use
Sunday Service Preparation
- Prepare the facility each week to ensure readiness for Sunday services
- Verify rooms are properly arranged, stocked, and functioning prior to Sunday services

Physical demands:
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and move furniture
- Able to be on feet for prolonged periods
- Able to be in front of computer for prolonged periods
Travel required: Minimal
Time requirement: 30 hours per week
Required Schedule: Monday-Friday. Any changes in schedule to be pre-approved by Facility Director
Other Hours: All additional hours will be pre- approved by the Facility Director and E.P.O
Required Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience in building maintenance and all that would entail including tall ladders and 35’ scissor lift.
- Demonstrated experience in completing a range of administrative tasks
Communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work as a part of a team oriented working environment,
- Able to mobilize others as part of a team culture
- Competent computer skills including demonstrated experience in the use of a range of Microsoft Office products (i.e.: Word, Excel, etc.) additional skills as needed.
- Excellent time management skills
- Required to apply best safety practices
- Minimum of 2 years experience
- Perform mundane & repetitive tasks on a daily & weekly basis
Preferred education and experience
- Minimum High School Diploma or Associates Degree
- Specialized knowledge competency in basic plumbing, electrical,a/c, landscaping, and carpentry. knowledge of basic safety practices.
- Competency in using power tools, i.e. drills, mitre saws, drywall toots.
