AeroFarms is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety and Security specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our personnel, visitors, and facilities. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong integrity, sound judgment, excellent time-management skills, and effective report-writing abilities. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, takes initiative, and consistently promotes a culture of safety and security throughout the facility. This position reports directly to the EHS manager.

Safety Responsibilities:
- Foster a “Safety First” culture in the work environment.
- Conduct fire extinguisher inspections.
- Inventory and restock First Aid Cabinets
- Build partnerships with other departments through teamwork to enhance overall safety and security measures.
- Perform Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) observations throughout shifts.
- Actively participate in Safety Committee meetings and discussions.
- Document safety observations and report incidents immediately to Management.
- Maintain policy and procedure documentation and monitor for effectiveness.
- Lead Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) to include active engagement in emergency evacuations, shelter in place measures, medical events, etc.
- Assist EHS manager with incident, injury, and near-miss investigations, collecting witness statements and supporting documentation, and support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) implementation as delegate by the EHS manager.
- Support and assist EHS manager with OSHA regulation compliance, company safety policies, assist EHS manager with safety audits and inspections.
- Monitor compliance with PPE, LOTO, machine guarding, and hazard communication requirements.
Security Responsibilities:
- Regularly monitor the premises to maintain order and establish a presence.
- Observe camera system and review video as necessary.
- Ensure all employees and visitors have the proper badge and scan in and out of the building and conduct routine security access patrols
- Document and report suspicious activity to site leadership
- Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and timely surveillance activity reports, incidents, security, and safety reports to the EHS manager.
- Assist in organizing, updating, and maintaining and auditing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to ensure compliance with safety regulations as instructed by EHS Manager.
- Other duties and special projects as directed by EHS Manager.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in office, warehouse, production, and indoor agricultural growing environments.
- Exposure to humid conditions, cleaning chemicals, noise, moving equipment, and production machinery may occur.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work a 12-hour overnight shift (6:00 PM–6:00 AM) on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule, including weekends and holidays as required. Must be available to work weekends.
- Ability to respect and maintain confidential information.
- Ability to understand and comply with GMPs and food safety regulations when patrolling the farm.
- Able to communicate EHS best practices with all levels of the workforce.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Ability to learn and comprehend the safe operation of equipment and processes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, ppt, etc.)
- Experience working in Production, Warehouse, and Maintenance operations.
- Experience in Health and Safety compliance metrics and/or Site Security protocols.
- Knowledge of risk assessments, chemical compliance, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, machine safeguarding, lock out tag out (LOTO), waste management, and spill response.
- CPR and First Aid certified.
- 1 – 3 years experience in security, EHS, safety, etc.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations, OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience with surveillance systems/camera
- Experience with incident reports
- Ability to walk, stand, and patrol for extended periods.
- Ability to climb stairs and navigate production, warehouse, and growing areas.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and humidity levels typical of indoor farming operations.
- Ability to conduct security walks in day and night conditions
- Ability to respond quickly during emergencies.
