FAMILY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR 

Location: Boston, MA 
Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt 
Reports To: Site Leader

We provide year-round programs in Boston, Worcester, and Chelsea that build literacy, critical thinking, and healthy habits while fostering supportive relationships between students and staff. 

Tenacity students consistently exceed local graduation and college completion rates—95% graduate from high school, and 75% pursue or complete post-secondary education, compared to 79% and 38% citywide, respectively. JOB SUMMARY  

The Family Engagement Coordinator is responsible for building strong partnerships between caregivers, students, schools, and program staff to support academic success, family involvement, and youth development.  This person coordinates communication, family outreach, student support services, and program activities while fostering meaningful engagement in school and community-based programs. 

The ideal candidate is a compassionate, organized, and relationship-focused professional who excels at building trust with students, families, and school partners. They are a strong communicator, culturally responsive, and passionate about youth development, family engagement, and student success. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

Family & Caregiver Engagement   

  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with caregivers to support collaboration with Tenacity staff and partner schools.   
  • Maintain consistent communication with caregivers regarding student engagement, family needs, resources, and participation in the Tenacity Pathway.   
  • Facilitate communication through phone calls, texts, meetings, and meetings.   
  • Support caregiver/family participation in school and Tenacity events, conferences, performances, and open houses.   
  • Collaborate with families on student academic achievement, goal setting, and action planning.   
  • Ensure families receive two family visits per year.   

Student Support & Academic Success   

  • Support continued student participation and success in the Ace Academy and Pathway programs.   
  • Assist families of 8th graders with the high school selection process.   
  • Connect families with the College and Career Prep team for high school student support.   
  • Engage directly with students during program activities and lead small groups when necessary.   

 

Program Coordination & Team Collaboration 

  • Collaborate with the site team on family involvement strategies, reflections, and action planning.   
  • Serve as a resource to partner schools regarding family engagement initiatives.   
  • Work closely with Academic and Rackets Coordinators to support program delivery.   
  • Support planning and operations for summer programming.   

 

Communications & Outreach  

  • Write and design seasonal newsletters for families and partners.   
  • Promote ongoing communication and engagement between families, schools, and Tenacity staff.   

Events & Organizational Support  

  • Attend and support Tenacity-wide events, including fundraising and marketing activities.   
  • Support the summer program (STRP) as a Reading or Rackets Lead or assist with planning for the following school year, as determined by Director of ACE and the Director of Summer Programming and Rackets.   


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Experience working with families and caregivers in an urban environment.  
  • An ability to model a "Growth Mindset" toward students, other staff, and oneself.  
  • Strong interpersonal, team development, management, organizational and verbal/written communication skills.  
  • Have considerable relationship management skills and experience - particularly working with families, as well as teachers and principals.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft product suites.  
  • Fluency in verbal and written Spanish highly desired.  
  • Some tennis experience a plus.  
  • Driver’s license desired.  
  • Consistent access to a car desired. 

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 

Salary Range: $50,000-$58,000 annually (based on experience)
