This effort will support the modernization and upgrade of enterprise voice, data, and telecommunications systems across secure environments.</p> <p>This is a hands-on role ideal for candidates with strong structured cabling experience, knowledge of BICSI standards, and expertise installing and maintaining Cat6 copper, fiber optic cabling, and telecommunications infrastructure in mission-critical environments.</p> <p>Candidates must live within a commutable distance of Washington, DC to work onsite full time, or be willing to relocate to the Washington, DC area. &nbsp;Work will be completed during nighttime hours.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities Include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Install, terminate, test, label, and troubleshoot Cat6 copper and fiber optic cabling in accordance with BICSI and industry standards using TDR and other certification tools.</li> <li>Perform telecommunications infrastructure installations including patch panels, fiber enclosures, racks, cable trays, ladder racks, and related hardware.</li> <li>Construct/repair pathways (tray, ladder rack, sleeves, fire-stopping).</li> <li>Familiar with working in confined spaces.</li> <li>Support campus-wide cabling refresh and modernization efforts across multiple buildings and secure environments.</li> <li>Read and interpret telecom drawings, floor plans, wiring schematics, and installation documentation.</li> <li>Conduct cable routing, dressing, bundling, and labeling following customer standards and best practices.</li> <li>Support cutovers, migrations, telecommunications room buildouts, and MDF/IDF upgrades.</li> <li>Ensure all work complies with federal, security, and safety requirements.</li> <li>Maintain accurate installation documentation and support inventory tracking.</li> <li>Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and government personnel to support project execution and timelines.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Active Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret clearance.</li> <li>5+ years of relevant work experience.</li> <li>Experience installing and supporting structured cabling systems in enterprise or federal environments.</li> <li>Hands-on experience with Cat6 copper and fiber optic cable installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.</li> <li>Experience building telecommunications rooms, MDFs, and IDFs.</li> <li>Hands on experience with fiber optic testing equipment and cable certification tools.</li> <li>Ability to analyze and create telecom drawings and installation documentation.</li> <li>Ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in physically demanding environments.</li> <li>Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience leading small teams.</li> <li>BICSI Technician certification or related BICSI credentials.</li> <li>Fiber optic splicing or FOA certification experience preferred.</li> <li>Jetted/Air blown fiber installation experience.</li> <li>Skilled in confined space entry and associated rescue systems.</li> <li>Experience supporting campus-wide infrastructure modernization or refresh projects.</li> <li>Experience supporting secure federal or DoD environments.</li> <li>OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Physical Demands:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.</li> <li>Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces such as telecommunications rooms, above ceilings, and under raised floors.</li> <li>Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing throughout the workday.</li> <li>Ability to pull and route copper and fiber cabling through ceilings, conduits, and cable pathways.</li> <li>Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and cable testing equipment safely and effectively.</li> <li>Ability to work in active construction, data center, and secure government environments.</li> <li>Ability to travel between buildings or work locations across a campus environment as needed.</li> <li>Must be able to comply with all site safety and security requirements.</li> </ul> <p>The projected salary range for this position is $75,000+ annually.
