About the role

Background:

Rendeavour is Africa’s largest new-city developer, with a portfolio spanning more than 30,000 acres across rapidly growing urban centres in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Rendeavour is committed to developing integrated infrastructure - including modern living and working environments, communities, schools, and healthcare facilities - that supports sustainable economic growth, responds to the aspirations of Africa’s expanding middle class, and drives further urban development.

Rendeavour owns Kiswishi City S.A., a limited liability company incorporated in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with its registered office located at 12 Avenue des Cyprès, Quartier Bel-Air, Commune de Kampemba, Lubumbashi, Province du Haut-Katanga.

Kiswishi City S.A. is the owner and developer of Kiswishi SEZ, the first private Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The project is located on the outskirts of Lubumbashi, approximately 14 km from the city’s central business district and 8 km from Luano International Airport.

Kiswishi City is a master-planned, mixed-use development designed to accommodate light industrial, commercial, residential, retail, social, and recreational activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate the installation of Kiswishi City infrastructure and utilities, ensuring full compliance with designs developed by Rendeavour’s Design and Utilities Engineers, as well as adherence to the Rendeavour Corporate Governance Handbook. Provide regular site feedback to Rendeavour’s Group Heads of Delivery and Utilities and the Design Engineers, with practical recommendations on adapting proposed designs to local site conditions.
  • Work closely with the Kiswishi City Site Controller, who is responsible for logistics support related to infrastructure works, workforce operations, and security-related issues.
  • Deliver concise weekly progress updates, including photographs and basic sketches, and conduct on-site calls with the Rendeavour Group Heads of Delivery and Utilities, Design Engineers, and the Kiswishi City Country Head.
  • Close coordination with the Country Head for DRC in the completion of the planning and implementation phases, for all the workstreams to be executed.
  • Coordinate geotechnical investigations with the soil laboratory via the Kiswishi City Country Head.
  • Liaise with the project land surveyor to ensure the alignment of all the survey activities.
  • Manage the reconfiguration of existing excavations carried out in previous years in preparation for Phase 1 and Phase 2 road infrastructure development.
  • Review plot owners' house designs to ensure full compliance with design guidelines and provide them with adequate guidance on adherence.
  • Supervise all the construction works (e.g., box culvert installations) in coordination with the Kiswishi City Site Controller, with execution carried out by the local community infrastructure team.
  • Perform any additional tasks as may be assigned by the Rendeavour Country Head, Rendeavour's head of Construction and Delivery, or the Design and Utilities Engineers.
  • Host and support the Rendeavour Delivery and Utilities teams during their site visits to Kiswishi City.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Building and Construction, or a related field.
  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years of experience in on-site supervision and installation of road infrastructure, building construction, and infrastructure projects.
  • A sound understanding of FIDIC Conditions of Contract, as well as the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction (1986 Edition), is required.
  • The candidate should demonstrate a proven track record of successfully supervising similar road infrastructure projects, with experience following up on road works designs through costing and implementation and delivering fast-track road construction.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Experience with MS Project and Primavera
  • Experience with surveying tools and reporting tools used on road and infrastructure sites
  • Professional proficiency in English is required.
