About the role

If you’re an experienced finance professional who enjoys technical accounting, strengthening controls, improving processes, and influencing business decisions- and you’re looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact beyond producing reports- this could be your next move.

This is an opportunity to join Boots Hearingcare as a Financial Accountant, supporting the financial integrity, compliance, and reporting requirements across our UK and Republic of Ireland operations. You’ll play a key role in statutory reporting, tax compliance, month-end activities, technical accounting, and continuous improvement initiatives, backed by the stability, investment and innovation of Boots Hearingcare and Sonova.

The environment

You’ll join a collaborative Finance team with exposure to senior stakeholders, Group Finance functions, and cross-functional projects, working within a business focused on growth, transformation and continuous improvement.

The role offers:

  • Hybrid working – 3 days in our Llandudno Head Office and 2 days from Home.
  • Exposure to technical accounting, tax and statutory reporting activities
  • Opportunity to influence financial controls, processes and automation initiatives
  • Involvement in finance transformation and continuous improvement projects
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Group Finance, Tax, Treasury and wider business teams
  • Exposure to acquisitions, integration projects and strategic business initiatives
  • Supportive leadership and development opportunities

This role is about ownership and impact, not simply maintaining the status quo.

The role

As a Financial Accountant, you’ll:

  • Prepare annual statutory accounts in line with relevant accounting standards (IFRS & FRS 102)
  • Support year-end audits, liaising with external auditors and resolving technical accounting queries
  • Ensure compliance with statutory filing deadlines and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare and submit UK and ROI VAT returns, supporting tax compliance activities
  • Support corporation tax processes, tax provisioning and related reporting requirements
  • Lead key areas of the month-end close process, ensuring accurate journals and reconciliations
  • Maintain strong balance sheet control through reconciliations, substantiation and documentation
  • Prepare technical accounting journals including accruals, prepayments, tax adjustments and provisions
  • Produce high-quality financial reporting and insight for senior stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance and financial support to non-finance colleagues
  • Identify opportunities to improve controls, reporting processes and automation
  • Support finance transformation initiatives and continuous improvement projects
  • Contribute to acquisition activity, financial due diligence and integration processes where required
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and provide constructive challenge to support better decisions

You’ll be trusted to challenge constructively, improve processes and help shape financial best practice.

Progression & development

This role is ideal for someone looking to broaden their technical and commercial exposure within a growing international organisation.

Progression opportunities may include:

  • Senior Financial Accountant responsibilities
  • Finance Business Partner pathways
  • Leadership opportunities within Finance
  • Involvement in transformation and strategic projects
  • Exposure to wider Sonova Group development opportunities

You’ll also benefit from:

  • Ongoing professional development
  • Exposure to business-wide projects and change initiatives
  • Opportunities to influence systems, controls and operational performance
  • Experience working within an international organisation

What’s in it for you

  • Competitive salary
  • Hybrid working (2 days from home)
  • 25–30 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Boots Discount Card
  • Free hearing aids (if required as an employee)
  • Free flu vaccination (discounted for family members)
  • Pension scheme & life assurance

What we’re looking for

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (part-qualified candidates with strong relevant experience considered)
  • Strong experience within financial accounting, statutory reporting and tax
  • Comfortable owning month-end processes and reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Experience supporting audits and maintaining strong financial controls
  • Advanced Excel capability
