Senior Financial Analyst

<p>We’re looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented <strong>Senior Financial Analyst</strong> to join our <strong>FUN-ance Team</strong> (yes, that’s what we call ourselves!). This role is perfect for someone who loves a mix of day-to-day accounting operations and forward-looking financial strategy. You’ll play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, driving insights, and supporting Coconut’s continued growth as a high-performing Canadian B2B SaaS company.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3><strong>YOU’RE FIRED UP TO SUPPORT</strong></h3> <p style="padding-left: 40px;"><strong>Financial Controllership</strong> (50%)</p> <ul> <li>Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and review of monthly financial statements in strict accordance with ASPE standards.</li> <li>Operational Accounting: Execute complex reconciliations and journal entries, ensuring precise SaaS revenue recognition and maintaining General Ledger integrity.</li> <li>Compliance &amp; Audit: Support annual audit processes, regulatory tax filings, and external reporting requirements to ensure full compliance.</li> <li>Internal Controls: Maintain robust internal controls and standardized accounting procedures to ensure accuracy and mitigate financial risk.</li> <li>Cycle Management: Lead month-end close and reporting cycles, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial results.</li> <li>Process Innovation: Support the optimization of accounting workflows by identifying opportunities for automation and the integration of AI tools to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.</li> </ul> <p style="padding-left: 40px;"><strong>Financial Planning and Analysis </strong>(50%)&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Strategic Reporting: Develop and maintain sophisticated KPI dashboards to provide stakeholders with actionable financial insights and performance metrics.</li> <li>Budgeting &amp; Forecasting: Collaborate with department leadership to consolidate inputs for the annual budget, ensuring alignment with corporate financial objectives.</li> <li>Financial Modeling: Construct and refine dynamic financial models to forecast business performance and support strategic decision-making.</li> <li>Trend Analysis: Conduct variance analysis and interpret key financial trends to identify risks and growth opportunities.</li> <li>Process Optimization: Implement and optimize accounting and FP&amp;A systems to enhance automation, efficiency, and cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Sales, and Product teams.</li> <li>System Ownership: Support the management of the FP&amp;A system by assisting with updates and maintenance of its architecture, helping to ensure data integrity and evolving functionality in support of strategic planning.</li> <li>Strategic Support: Deliver ad-hoc financial intelligence and lead special projects to drive continuous improvement in reporting and analytical workflows.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM</strong></h3> <ul> <li>CPA designation (required).</li> <li>3-5+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting, FP&amp;A, or corporate accounting.</li> <li>Experience at a Big Four accounting firm or in public accounting is considered a strong foundation for success in this role.</li> <li>Strong understanding of ASPE accounting standards and operational finance.</li> <li>Experience in SaaS or software/technology environments is considered an asset.</li> <li>Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with ERP and FP&amp;A tools preferred.</li> <li>Prior experience leading or coordinating annual budgeting, forecasting cycles, and variance analysis, including partnering with department leaders, is an asset.</li> <li>Exceptional analytical ability, attention to detail, and sound professional judgment.</li> <li>Clear and confident communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across teams.</li> <li>Prior experience leading or coordinating annual budgeting, forecasting cycles, and variance analysis, including partnering with department leaders, is an asset., juggling competing priorities with focus and flexibility.</li> <li>You’ve got serious finance chops and an easygoing spirit; you know your debits from your credits <em>and</em> your coconuts from your palms</li> <li>A curiosity for innovation: We're looking for someone who loves to learn and elevate their skills with new technology, particularly AI and large language models (LLMs) like Google Gemini. The expected hiring range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000.</p> <p>The base salary for this position is listed to support candidates to align themselves within the target range. The range is grounded in comprehensive analysis of national compensation data for similar roles and company sizes in the technology sector, alongside a review of our internal compensation framework to ensure pay equity across the company.
