Financial Controller

Homemate is one of Malta’s leading DIY and home improvement retail chains, with multiple outlets across the island. As we continue to grow and expand our operations, we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Financial Controller to join our team.

 

Role Overview

The Financial Controller will play a key role in overseeing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial planning.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting processes
• Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and company policies
• Manage audits and liaise with external auditors and financial institutions
• Analyse financial performance and provide strategic insights to management
• Implement and improve financial systems, controls, and procedures
• Support business growth initiatives through financial planning and analysis

Requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role (retail experience is an asset)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent knowledge of financial reporting and accounting standards
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
• Strong leadership and communication skills
