About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Advise financial institutions on a wide range of Irish and EU regulatory frameworks
- Support on licensing, authorisation, and ongoing supervisory matters with the Central Bank of Ireland (including investigations and enforcement cases)
- Provide regulatory input into corporate transactions, including M&A and restructuring projects
- Assist clients with compliance frameworks, governance structures, and regulatory change programmes
- Contribute to thought leadership, client briefings, and internal knowledge development
- Advise on a wide range of financial services regulation including MiFID II, CRD/CRR (including CRD VI), PSD2/PSD3, and other EU directives/regulations
- Support clients through regulatory authorisations, approvals, and ongoing supervisory engagement
- Draft and review policies, procedures, and regulatory documentation
- Provide strategic regulatory advice for new products, services, and market entry
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across practice areas including Corporate/M&A, Debt Finance and Funds
- Managing client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives
- Strong technical competence in financial regulation and ability to deliver clear, pragmatic advice
- Building trusted relationships with clients and becoming a key contact on matters
- Effective management of matters, delivering high-quality work within deadlines
- Active contribution to team knowledge, training, and profile-raising initiatives
- Demonstrating commercial awareness and understanding of clients’ business needs

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified solicitor with 3–5 years’ PQE in financial regulation
- Experience gained in a top-tier law firm or in-house legal/regulatory environment
- Strong knowledge of EU financial services regulatory frameworks
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to build client relationships
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience advising on Irish financial services regulatory frameworks and processes
- Exposure to cross-border regulatory matters
- Interest in emerging areas such as digital finance, and fintech
