Position overview: The Foreman in training leads field crews, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work while coordinating daily tasks and supporting project schedules.


Key Responsibilities


Crew & Field Supervision (Training Role)

  • Assist in supervising field crews under the guidance of experienced foremen and superintendents
  • Learn to communicate daily assignments, goals, and safety expectations to team members
  • Observe and support hands-on training and mentorship for less experienced workers
  • Gain familiarity with proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and material


BIU Operational Support

  • Support the Superintendent and BIU leadership by maintaining accountability of manpower, materials, and equipment needs at the crew level
  • Participate in BIU planning sessions to align crew tasks with manpower laydowns and project schedules
  • Learn to monitor crew performance against BIU standards and SOPs, reinforcing discipline and accountability
  • Assist in incident response by coordinating crew-level adjustments and implementing contingency plans

 

Work Coordination & Reporting

  • Shadow the Superintendent in coordinating subcontractor and BIU team activities to maintain workflow
  • Practice tracking daily progress, reporting completed work, delays, material shortages, and operational issues
  • Learn procedures for staging, soring, and installing materials to support uninterrupted operations
  • Identify risks or conflicts at the crew level and escalate promptly to the Site Superintendent

 

Safety & Compliance

  • Learn and help enforce MCIS and OSHA safety policies among crew members
  • Participate in pre-task safety planning, toolbox talks, and PPE enforcement under supervision
  • Assist in reporting incidents, near misses, and unsafe behaviors to the Superintendent and BIU leadership
  • Join safety audits, inspections, and corrective action plans as part of training

 

Quality & Workmanship

  • Observe and assist in inspecting crew work to verify compliance with project specifications and MCIS standards
  • Support punch list work and project closeout tasks as directed by the Superintendent
