ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Team Lead, you are responsible for leading an engineering team to deliver scalable, high-quality, and reliable solutions aligned with playCONNECT’s product and technical goals. You combine strong technical expertise with people leadership, ensuring your team operates efficiently, collaborates effectively, and continuously improves both engineering quality and delivery practices.
You will act as the bridge between engineering, product, and other stakeholders (DevOps, Games, Loyalty teams, Data,…), translating requirements & priorities into actionable execution plans while fostering a healthy, high-performing, and AI-augmented engineering culture.
This role requires a balance of technical leadership, delivery ownership, mentoring, and strategic thinking to ensure your team can sustainably deliver impactful products and platform capabilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical leadership and Execution – Own the technical execution of your team by translating product requirements into clear engineering plans, technical designs, and implementation strategies. Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with engineering standards and long-term platform architecture. Review and validate Technical Design Documents and provide technical guidance throughout the development lifecycle.
- Sprint Delivery & Agile Execution – Lead sprint planning, estimation, prioritization, execution tracking, and delivery coordination to ensure predictable and high-quality releases. Remove blockers proactively, manage delivery risks, and continuously improve team efficiency and Agile processes.
- Stakeholder Alignment & Expectation Management – Act as the primary technical liaison between engineering and non-engineering stakeholders. Communicate technical trade-offs, risks, and dependencies clearly while managing expectations around scope, timelines, and feasibility. Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Designers, QA, and other engineering teams.
- AI-Augmented Engineering Culture – Drive the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices and tools, including coding assistants, automated documentation, and productivity tooling. Encourage innovation and continuous learning while ensuring sustainable engineering practices and developer well-being.
- Team Health & Career Growth – Support the growth and success of team members through mentoring, coaching, feedback, and career development discussions. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and psychologically safe team culture while helping resolve interpersonal or delivery-related challenges.
- Technical Strategy Alignment – Ensure alignment between architectural decisions, engineering priorities, and business objectives. Partner with Tech Leads and Engineering Management to balance technical excellence, scalability, speed of execution, and product impact.
- Documentation Integrity – Maintain high standards for technical documentation, onboarding materials, architecture diagrams, and operational processes. Promote knowledge sharing and ensure technical information remains accurate, accessible, and up to date.
- Engineering Quality & Continuous Improvement - Promote engineering best practices including code quality, testing, observability, security, and performance optimization. Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives that improve team productivity, reliability, and operational excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have:
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, including at least 1 year of experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in .NET Core, including building scalable APIs, microservices, and backend systems.
- Proficiency in modern frontend development, including Single Page Application (SPA) development using frameworks such as Vue, React, or Angular, along with experience in the Node.js ecosystem, build tooling, and frontend infrastructure.
- Strong expertise in software architecture, system design, scalability, and modern development practices.
- Proven experience delivering complex software projects in Agile environments.
- Experience in high-traffic consumer applications.
- Strong understanding of technical debt management, engineering quality, and operational excellence.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance hands-on technical leadership with people management responsibilities.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in fast-paced product organizations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate technical risks.
Nice to have:
- Experience in gaming, loyalty, rewards, or consumer-facing platforms.
- Experience managing distributed or international engineering teams.
- Familiarity with APIs, SDKs, cloud infrastructure, and platform integration challenges.
- Experience implementing AI-assisted development workflows and engineering productivity tooling.
- Passion for mentoring and building strong engineering cultures.
