<p><strong>Role Summary</strong></p>
<p>The Relief Teacher steps in to support the classroom team in the absence of the regular Guide. This role ensures continuity of care, supervision, and a high-quality Montessori environment. The Relief Teacher works closely with Classroom Guides and Assistant Guides to maintain routines, safety, and positive child interactions.</p>
<h4><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h4>
<p><strong>Classroom Support & Child Supervision</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide close supervision to children, ensuring safety and compliance with ECDA teacher-child ratio requirements</li>
<li>Interact with children in a warm, joyful, respectful manner that fosters independence</li>
<li>Assist in maintaining a meticulously clean, orderly, and safe Montessori-prepared environment</li>
<li>Perform prep-work to ensure the classroom is ready for students daily</li>
<li>Observe children and share relevant observations with the Lead Guide</li>
<li>Redirect children as necessary to protect presentations and peers’ concentration</li>
<li>Follow daily routines including mealtimes, toileting/diapering, and naptime with dignity and respect</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Communication & Team Collaboration</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Ensure interactions with the team about routine issues or anecdotes from the child’s day are positive and upbeat</li>
<li>Communicate any significant student issues or parent concerns to the Classroom Guide or Head of School</li>
</ul>
<h4><strong>Qualifications</strong></h4>
<ul>
<li><strong>Certificate in Infant and Toddler Care and Development (CIT) / Higher Certificate in Infant Care (HCIC) / Advanced Certificate in Early Years (ACEY) </strong>or equivalent</li>
<li><strong>Registered with ECDA </strong>and hold a valid first aid certificate (or willing to obtain)</li>
<li><strong>Native or fluent proficiency in English or Mandarin</strong>(depending on which language role the relief teacher is covering)</li>
<li>Experience working with children aged <strong>6 months – 6 years</strong></li>
<li>Passion for or desire to learn the <strong>Montessori method </strong>of education</li>
<li>Growth mindset and problem-solving approach</li>
<li>Able to work as part of a team, sharing skills, resources, and equipment with other staff members</li>
