About the role

Job Purpose:

To oversee the General Ledger (GL) function and ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards. The GL Supervisor will lead the GL team in managing month-end closings, reconciliations, and financial analysis, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily operations of the GL team, ensuring timely and accurate posting of transactions.
  • Oversee the month-end closing process, ensuring all financial entries are recorded, reconciled, and closed in accordance with the timeline.
  • Review and verify journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Monitor the integrity of financial data and ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation.
  • Provide support to finance and operations teams regarding GL inquiries and issues.
  • Train, mentor, and develop GL staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the GL functions.
  • Assist in the development of accounting policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Preferred qualified bachelor’s degree or professional diploma such CPA, CA, UKCA
  • Preferred experience in auditing
  • 7 years+ of experience in accounting and financial statements
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Oracle, SAP), along with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in creating financial statements under IFRS
  • Strong operational and implementation knowledge on IFRS
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
