About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Participating in the tax structuring of the Group's international operations and tax risk management
- Participating in the development of the operational structure and assessment of tax risks associated with conducting business in foreign countries
- Setting up processes for tax compliance in the countries where the Group operates
- Participating in the analysis of tax aspects concerning significant commercial, technical, and other projects of the Group in its countries of presence, international operations, as well as contracts and policies
- Participating in the development of procedures to improve the Group's tax efficiency and tax risk management
- Supervising communications with tax authorities, forming the company's legal position, and preparing responses and documentation related to tax requests, as well as analyzing documents required to defend the company’s position
- Transfer Pricing - Monitor local TP requirements across EMEA and APJ, coordinate with advisors, and support arm’s length pricing for new intercompany transactions.
- M&A & Transactions - Support tax due diligence on acquisitions and investments: reviewing target tax profiles, identifying exposures, and summarising findings for deal teams, and manage post-acquisition integration of inherited tax risks. Manage tax authority inquiries and audits: preparing responses, reconciling accounts, maintaining audit-ready records, and coordinating with local counsel. • Build and maintain relationships with tax authorities across key jurisdictions and represent the group’s legal and technical positions.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of dedicated tax experience within a multinationals or Big 4 accounting firm.
- Strong working knowledge of Kazakhstan tax law (CIT, VAT, WHT), ideally with hands-on compliance and advisory experience.
- Prior exposure to M&A tax due diligence, deal structuring, or post-acquisition integration is a must.
- Experience with EMEA and/or APJ tax frameworks (direct and indirect taxes) is highly valued.
- Prior experience with Netsuite, Workday or other ERP systems is a plus.
- Excellent command of English (Advanced)
- Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
