About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for complex hazardous building material, industrial hygiene, and occupational health and safety assessment projects.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams through project planning, execution, and delivery while ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and oversee sampling strategies, field investigation plans, and data collection methodologies.
- Conduct and direct complex field assessments involving hazardous materials, indoor environmental quality, occupational exposures, and regulatory compliance.
- Review and interpret historical environmental and industrial hygiene data to identify risks, data gaps, and project recommendations.
- Provide technical review and quality assurance for environmental and personal sampling programs.
- Establish and maintain quality control procedures for field instrumentation, monitoring equipment, and data collection processes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for clients, staff, and stakeholders on hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plans while maintaining accountability for project profitability and client satisfaction.
- Foster and maintain strong client relationships and support business development initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to corporate health, safety, quality, and risk management programs.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of relevant consulting or industry experience.
- Professional certifications related to asbestos, lead, and OSHA compliance.
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental, hazardous materials, and occupational health regulations.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong technical report writing, communication, and client management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software such as Deltek.
- Ability to travel up to 20% for client meetings, site visits, and business development activities.
- Experience serving as a technical lead or team leader within an environmental consulting environment.
- Existing relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and industry partners throughout Connecticut and the Northeast.
- Experience mentoring and developing technical staff.
