We are looking for a motivated and experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead our safety culture and ensure the wellbeing of our staff and learners across the country.
About the Role
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, you’ll be the organisation’s health & safety lead - setting strategy, improving systems, and supporting a culture where safety and wellbeing are central to everything we do.
You’ll work closely with leaders, ATNZ Account Managers, and our host companies, ensuring ATNZ meets its responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act and the Pastoral Care Code of Practice. This is a hands‑on, people‑focused role where you’ll coach, influence and lift safety capability across our teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
Developing the ATNZ H&S strategy and business plan alongside the CEO
Keeping our H&S management systems up‑to‑date, compliant and best‑practice
Leading incident reporting, investigations and driver behaviour monitoring
Coordinating audits of host workplaces and ATNZ learning environments
Ensuring effective H&S inductions for staff, learners and host companies
Leading the Health & Safety Committee and championing a strong safety culture
Providing regular reporting, trend analysis and recommendations to the Board
Delivering and developing training, online modules and toolbox talks
Supporting managers to embed safe work practices
Leading serious harm investigations and identifying root causes
Driving continuous improvement and promoting proactive risk management
What You’ll Bring
Relevant Health & Safety qualification
At least 3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety management role
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to influence, coach and engage people at all levels
Confidence interpreting legislation and applying best‑practice H&S systems
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, experience with systems Vault and Safety Culture would be an advantage
A collaborative, proactive mindset with a passion for wellbeing and safety
