About the role

Key Responsibilities

  • To work as part of a care team.
  • Promoting and Safeguarding the welfare of Service Users.
  • Reviewing progress of care with the Service User, and reporting any signs of deterioration in physical and mental health appropriately.
  • Follow policies and procedures to maintain the highest standards of Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Measuring effectiveness of Service User's Care Plan(s) with interdisciplinary team; providing care improvement recommendations when required.
  • To carry out tasks in a way that will demonstrate respect for dignity and privacy of Service Users, irrespective of the severity of disability or personal circumstances.
  • To liaise with other agencies involved with Service Users when required.
  • To respect the rights and choices of all Service Users.
  • Participate in audits, as requested and required.
  • Act in accordance with all legal requirements; fostering treatment practices and standards of care that comply to the values of the Home, whilst observing governing regulations.
  • To encourage positive social interaction with Service Users.
  • Attend and participate in supervision meetings and appraisals where required.
  • Comply with all respective company policies and procedures.
  • Assisting Service Users to mobilise in accordance with best Moving & Handling practices and Care Plan(s).
  • Assisting Service Users to maintain a good dietary intake of food and drinks, in accordance with training and Care Plan(s).
  • To ensure that personal care tasks are carried out to enhance and support the independence of the Service User, in-line with the Care Plan(s).
  • Wherever possible, encourage Service Users to be as independent as possible with their personal care requirements.
  • To carry out domestic tasks relevant to their role, their location of work and as allocated by management.
  • To ensure a clean and tidy environment for Service Users and colleagues.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • No formal qualification required, but RQF Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable, or a willingness to undertake this qualification at the earliest possible convenience. For Health Care Assistants without RQF Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), the Care Certificate will need to be completed.
  • Willing to be hands-on with Service Users (e.g. washing, toileting, etc.).
  • Able to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Able to work in a team but use their own initiative.
  • Good observational skills.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Caring and kind.
  • Cheerful and friendly.
  • Flexible, reliable and adaptable.
  • Good team player.
  • Integrity.
