About the role
Hadco's Recycling Division is looking for Heavy T Driver / Loaders.
JOB SUMMARY
The Heavy T Driver is responsible for operating the company’s collection vehicles to retrieve used paper from suppliers across Trinidad and Tobago. This role requires strong communication, planning, organisational and leadership skills. Key duties include managing the designated vehicle, planning efficient collection routes, maintaining relationships with current suppliers and procuring new ones. Drivers must ensure the vehicle is roadworthy through regular checks and report any issues to management. They are expected to adhere to all company policies and traffic regulations and promptly report any operational concerns. In alignment with the company’s sustainability values, drivers play a vital role in promoting responsible recycling practices. The driver will also be required to load and offload materials where needed.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and report defects to management.
- Collect used paper from suppliers in designated areas.
- Procure new suppliers and maintain relationships with existing suppliers.
- Awareness on the road to ensure you are driving in a safe and courteous manner, so as not to cause harm or injury to self, others or property.
- Ensure entries into collections books are to be completed after each stop to account for all supplier visits/collections.
- Load and offload used paper and cardboard at supplier locations and the company’s base as required.
- Clean the collection area after offloading of paper and cardboard.
- Ensure the vehicle is refueled, cleaned and maintained to company standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Secondary School
- Ability to read and write and understand instructions
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 (Three) Ordinary Level Passes
- Fit physical condition
- Pleasant Disposition and well mannered
- Ability to communicate well
- Team Player
- Experience in Driving
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. 2-3 years’ experience with manual vehicles
2. Ability to multitask well
3. Comprehensive knowledge of the geography of Trinidad and Tobago
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Heavy-T Driving Permit
- Defensive Driving Certificate
- Certificate of Character
- Forklift License (If applicable)

- Becoming familiar with the HSE procedures required to perform their jobs safely.
- Ensuring full compliance with all applicable legislations and site regulations.
- Attending and actively participate in scheduled HSE training meetings, toolbox talks and HSE programmes.
- Performing all work in a safe manner.
- Using all appropriate PPE in a correct manner.
- Using all Safe Systems of Work available. For example Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Permits, Risk Assessments, Checklists etc.
- Observing good housekeeping practice.
- Reporting the taking of any medication while on the work place to their Supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Processing Warehouse is a fast paced environment which requires various activities such as bending, lifting, walking, sitting, turning and repetitive motion. There are vehicles and forklifts constantly in motion and as such, the employee must be aware of this and be able to react quickly if need be to get themselves out of harm’s way. It is essential that all HSE policies and procedures are followed in an effort to create a safe and comfortable working environment for all. Therefore, activities such as bending, lifting, climbing etc. must be done in the correct manner; and employees must wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to ensure that any risk to self, others, or property is minimized.
