About the role
The Hospitalist provides comprehensive inpatient medical care to adult patients, managing acute illnesses and complex medical conditions throughout hospitalization. This physician works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based inpatient care and ensure safe transitions of care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide inpatient medical management for adult patients admitted to the hospital
* Diagnose, treat, and monitor acute and chronic medical conditions
* Coordinate care with consulting specialists and ancillary services
* Manage admissions, daily rounding, and patient discharges
* Interpret laboratory results, diagnostic studies, and imaging
* Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams
* Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant medical documentation
* Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and peer review activities
* Provide cross-coverage and participate in scheduled hospitalist shifts as assigned
Qualifications
* Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
* Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
* Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine
* Unrestricted medical license or eligibility for licensure in the practicing state
* Strong clinical judgment and inpatient care experience
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Work Environment
* Inpatient hospital setting
* Shift-based schedule, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays
Requirements
Must maintain state certification and/or licensure
