We are seeking a well-rounded and enthusiastic individual to work within our boarding team, based in the Year 11 House. This fixed term, part-time position is ideal for students who are currently attending university, or working part-time. The early morning and after-school shifts accommodate your schedule while allowing you to make an impact on the lives of our students. Dilworth School is an independent (private) boarding school for young men, years 7-13, and offers a fully funded wraparound education. Students achieve exceptional NCEA results at a level comparable with the highest performing NZ schools and excel in sports, music, arts and cultural endeavours, and outdoor education. The school, which has an Anglican tradition, was founded by the legacy of benefactor James Dilworth in 1906 and has grown to be one of the largest boarding schools in Australasia. The school is funded by an endowment which is administered by the Dilworth Trust, a significant owner of commercial and industrial property in Auckland.
Dilworth School provides a safe and inclusive environment and has gone through an extensive period of change over the last four years. In September 2025, Dilworth School successfully achieved reaccreditation through the Australian Childhood Foundation's (ACF) Safeguarding Children Programme. Previously, Dilworth was accredited with Child Wise, becoming the first school in Aotearoa, New Zealand to do so in 2022.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Building strong collegial relationships with kaimahi
- Mentoring and encouraging positive behaviours among ākonga
- Collaborating effectively within a boarding team
- Ensuring the safety, supervision and security of ākonga
Desired skills and attitude:
- Ability to use initiative
- Team player with a can-do attitude
- Background in working with youth
Requirements:
- Commitment to approximately 20 hours per week, working a range of early morning, after school, evening and weekend shifts
- Commitment to coaching or managing a school sports team
- Participation in Boarding House and School activities and events
