Purpose of the Role
The HR Advisor plays a key role in shaping a positive and inclusive employee experience by providing proactive, people-focused support across the business, predominantly supporting our Production and Operations teams based at the Production Centre.
This role works closely with line managers to deliver expert, front-line guidance on a wide range of people matters, fostering a culture of trust, growth, and high performance. As a hands-on and collaborative member of the team, the HR Advisor works alongside the HR Director and key stakeholders to drive improvements in people practices, operational effectiveness, and employee wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
HR Advisory
- Act as the primary HR contact for Production and Operations teams, building strong relationships with managers and providing responsive, pragmatic advice on a wide range of people matters.
- Take ownership of employee relations cases, managing them end-to-end (including disciplinaries, grievances, absence, and performance), ensuring outcomes are fair, legally compliant, and aligned to business needs.
- Provide balanced, commercially focused guidance that supports both employee experience and operational effectiveness, helping managers make confident, informed decisions.
- Coach and support managers to build capability across core people practices, including performance management, employee engagement, and team development.
- Identify trends and risks across the business (e.g. absence, turnover, ER themes) and proactively recommend solutions to improve performance and reduce risk.
Organisational change and people initiatives
- Support the delivery of organisational change initiatives, including restructures, redundancies, and TUPE processes, ensuring a professional, compliant and people-focused approach.
- Work closely with the HR Director to identify organisational needs and contribute to initiatives that support growth, agility, and continuous improvement.
- Partner on HR projects across the employee lifecycle, driving improvements in processes, policies, and ways of working.
Performance, Reward & Engagement
- Support the delivery of key people processes, including performance reviews, salary and bonus cycles, and promotions, ensuring consistency and fairness across the business.
- Contribute to employee engagement initiatives, including survey delivery, analysis of results, and supporting action planning with managers.
- Champion a positive, inclusive culture by promoting best practice across diversity, equity and inclusion and employee wellbeing.
Operational HR & Employee Lifecycle
- Oversee key stages of the employee lifecycle, including offboarding processes, family leave cases, and employee changes, ensuring a smooth and well-managed experience.
- Support onboarding activities in partnership with the HR and Payroll Assistant, ensuring new joiners have a professional and engaging start.
- Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS, working closely with the HR and Payroll Assistant to ensure data integrity and compliance.
Compliance, Governance & Data
- Ensure all HR activities are compliant with UK employment legislation, company policies, and best practice, minimising risk to the business.
- Manage Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship activity, acting as a Level 1 user and liaising with immigration advisors to ensure full compliance.
- Produce and analyse HR data and reports to support business decision-making, including statutory reporting such as Gender Pay Gap reporting.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience as a generalist HR professional, advising on a wide range of HR and employment law matters.
- Experience in a manufacturing, technology or fast-paced business environment is advantageous.
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Strong understanding of organisational restructuring and change management.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or working towards) is desirable.

This is an opportunity to join Motion Applied at an exciting moment - we have recently moved to a modern, purpose-built Production Centre that meets our high standards of quality and provides excellent scope for future expansion.
This move represents a significant step forward for Motion Applied. The new site not only enhances our production capabilities but also serves as a showcase for our expertise in motorsport electronics, offering a professional and impressive space for customers and visitors alike.
There will also be a requirement for ad-hoc travel between sites to support the HR function.
