The role:
We're hiring a Bilingual Immigration Legal Assistant (English/Spanish) to support our attorneys and clients throughout the immigration process. This role serves as a key connection between our legal team and the families we represent, helping ensure cases move forward efficiently while delivering a positive client experience.
This is not a purely administrative role. You'll play an active part in preparing immigration filings, gathering supporting evidence, maintaining case records, communicating with clients, and helping attorneys build strong cases. You'll work closely with attorneys and other legal team members to ensure every case is handled with accuracy, urgency, and care.
Success in this role requires strong organization, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to helping immigrant families navigate life-changing legal matters.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
▸ Client Communication & Case Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the duration of their case
- Gather information, documents, and supporting evidence needed for immigration filings
- Respond to client inquiries and provide updates in collaboration with the legal team
- Help guide clients through the immigration process while delivering compassionate and professional service
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and client communications within the firm's case management system
▸ Legal Document Preparation & Case Management
- Prepare applications, supporting evidence packets, affidavits, questionnaires, cover letters, and other legal documents for attorney review
- Organize and maintain case files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with filing requirements
- Review case materials and prepare finalized packets for submission to government agencies and courts
- Monitor deadlines, case milestones, and required documentation to help keep cases moving forward
- Coordinate with government agencies and other external parties regarding case-related records and updates
▸ Team Collaboration & Legal Support
- Collaborate with attorneys and legal team members to develop action plans and support case strategy
- Conduct research on country conditions, legal resources, and supporting evidence as needed
- Adapt to policy changes, government updates, and evolving case requirements
- Escalate issues, delays, or case concerns proactively to support successful outcomes
- Contribute to a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) — required
- Experience working in Immigration Law — required
- Availability to work Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM CST
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Experience preparing immigration applications and supporting documentation preferred
- Comfortable working with case management systems and legal technology
- Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies or a related field preferred, but not required
