Intermediate Accountant

Position Overview  

 

SBLR is looking for a full-time, permanent Intermediate Accountant with a minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience to join its growing team. In this position the candidate will work directly with senior accountants, managers and partners to provide accounting and tax support, while delivering an exceptional level of client service. Your role will include tax compliance and the ability to identify accounting and tax issues.  

 

 Key Responsibilities

• Perform all work related to the preparation of Compilation and Review Engagement financial statements  

• Design appropriate procedures based on the scope, risk, materiality, and significance guidelines of the review engagement  

• Conduct mandates under professional standards by using sound techniques and methodologies  

• Prepare corporate income tax returns  

• Preparation of T4, T5 and GST/HST returns  

• Preparation of T3-Trust returns  

• Identify accounting or tax issues and consult with senior team member

• Responsible for file completion  

• Prepare and review personal income tax returns  
• Maintain strict confidentiality of client and firm information in accordance with professional standards

 Qualifications   

• CPA designation (completed or in progress)  

• Public accounting background of minimum 2 years’ experience in preparation Compilation and Review Engagements reports/statements  

• Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP 

• Extensive knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook  

• Working knowledge of Caseware and Caseview  

• Working knowledge of TaxPrep software  

• Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO)  

• Experience with iFirm an asset 

Compensation 

The expected base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s skills & competencies, and unique qualifications.
