About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all investment data is accurate in the Clearwater system
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile investment accounts in the general ledger
- Prepare investment accounting disclosures and financial statement footnotes
- Perform investment interface upload and reconciliations for Lancashire Group and subsidiaries
- Maintain and monitor investment service provider platforms
- Prepare, process, and track transfers to and from investment portfolio
- Develop and maintain relationships with third-party service providers and collaborate on issue resolution
- Prepare weekly and monthly investment reports and analysis
- Assist with half-year and year-end audit process. Liaise with internal and external auditors and respond to related queries as required
- Prepare investment-related sections and for management accounts
- Prepare various internal reports for Senior Management and the Investment Committee
- Assist with investor presentation and rating agency presentations; including data gathering, validation and project coordination
- Prepare investment surveys and investment portions of regulatory submissions
- Assist with the maintenance of internal control and process documentation
- Monitor group and portfolio-level investment compliance to ensure alignment with investment guidelines and liquidity requirements
- Other ad hoc investment projects and reports as needed
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Professional accounting (CA, CPA or ACA designation) or CFA qualification required.
- 3 years post qualification experience, specifically gained in investment accounting within the insurance industry is strongly preferred.
- Detailed current knowledge and experience of IFRS and/or US GAAP for investment accounting is required.
- Strong knowledge of finance systems is required. Experience with Clearwater and Great Plains systems is a distinct advantage.
- Previous experience in a multi-currency environment would be a distinct advantage.
- Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on one's own initiative.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications with advanced skills in Excel is required.
- Strong work ethics and the ability to work extended hours including weekends during busy periods is required.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to multitask while maintaining a high level of accuracy, professionalism and confidentiality is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
