About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and produce daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on portfolio risk metrics and investment performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with investment managers and third-party service providers.
- Prepare presentation materials for senior management and for the Investment Committee.
- Develop dashboards to monitor existing investments, including performance and investment risk.
- Develop and enhance stress testing and scenario analysis using Aladdin
- Monitor Level 3 investments by tracking cash flows, valuations, and investment income.
- Assist with the Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) reviews.
- Assist with the due diligence on new investments and external managers.
- Leverage AI tools to efficiently synthesize investment information.
- Assess investment suitability considering regulatory requirements, capital, liquidity, and risk appetite.
- Assist with the submission of investment related activity pertaining to Rating Agency and Regulatory surveys.
- Evaluate the accounting implications of investment decisions, including impacts on financial statements and capital position; draft technical memos.
- Assist with quarterly external reporting (e.g., investment narratives, pricing verification, fair value levelling).
- Monitor FX exposure, review hedging activities, and optimize currency risk management.
- Support treasury operations and cash management.
- Lead and manage ad hoc projects as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field is required; advanced degree is preferred.
- CFA designation is required; a professional accounting (CA, CPA, or ACA) would be considered a strong advantage.
- 5+ years of relevant experience is required; insurance asset management experience is preferred.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with a solid understanding of capital markets and strategic asset allocation.
- Good understanding of investment risk, stress testing and scenario analysis.
- Knowledge of fixed income, multi-asset investing, and alternative asset classes (e.g., private credit, private equity, real estate, and hedge funds).
- Experience working with external asset managers is preferred.
- Familiarity with multi-currency portfolios.
- Strong understanding of investment accounting principles (IFRS preferred)
- Experience with investment systems such as BlackRock Aladdin and Clearwater (or equivalent) required.
- Advanced proficiency in analytical and reporting tools, as well as the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Strong work ethic, with the ability to work extended hours, including weekends during peak periods.
