Position Summary
The Senior IT Specialist is responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of the organization's IT infrastructure, security posture, and end-user support services. This role serves as a senior technical resource, providing leadership in the implementation of best practices, cybersecurity initiatives, infrastructure projects, and operational support while ensuring high availability, reliability, and security of enterprise systems.


Education

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.


Minimum Years of Experience

  • 5 to 8 years of progressive experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure Support, Network Administration, Cybersecurity, or related IT functions.


Desired Certifications / Equivalent Experience (Plus)

  • CompTIA Security+ or
  • CompTIA Network + or
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Fortinet NSE Certification
  • ITIL Foundation Certification


Required Technical Experience



Infrastructure & Systems Administration

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, and newer versions
  • Active Directory administration and Group Policy management
  • Microsoft 365 administration and support
  • DNS, DHCP, File Services, Print Services, and Remote Desktop Services
  • Virtualization technologies, primarily VMware environments
  • Server performance monitoring and optimization
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery solutions administration


Networking

  • Firewall configuration, administration, and monitoring
  • Switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, and network troubleshooting
  • WAN/LAN administration and monitoring
  • VPN configuration and maintenance
  • Network performance analysis and troubleshooting
  • Fiber connectivity and telecommunications redundancy management
  • Firmware upgrades and lifecycle management


Cybersecurity

  • Security monitoring and incident response
  • Security hardening of servers, endpoints, and network devices
  • Vulnerability assessment and remediation
  • Antivirus and endpoint protection administration
  • Security alert analysis and escalation
  • Patch management and compliance
  • Identity and Access Management (IAM)
  • Factor Authentication (MFA) implementation and support


Cloud Technologies

  • Microsoft Azure administration and monitoring

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support enterprise infrastructure environments
  • Monitor systems, networks, and security platforms to ensure optimal performance and availability
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex infrastructure and cybersecurity incidents
  • Implement security best practices and compliance requirements
  • Coordinate server, network, and security upgrades
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles
  • Participate in infrastructure planning, architecture discussions, and technology recommendations
  • Mentor junior IT staff and provide technical guidance when required
  • Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and cybersecurity initiatives
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support when necessary
