IT Systems Engineer 3

<p>VIP is seeking a highly skilled <strong>IT Systems Engineer 3</strong> to join our IT Systems Team. This role is pivotal in analyzing, testing, and building leading-edge solutions, focusing heavily on advanced process automation, security, and scalability. As an IT Systems Engineer 3, you will be a key leader in designing and implementing complex software systems, ensuring they are reliable, secure, and scalable.</p> <p><strong>Position Type:&nbsp;</strong>Full Time, Hybrid. This position will report to our office headquarters in Colchester, VT</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Automation &amp; Scripting:</strong> Achieve significant process automation using tools like <strong>Ansible</strong>, <strong>PowerShell</strong>, and <strong>bash</strong> to increase system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.</li> <li><strong>System Design &amp; Implementation:</strong> Design, implement, and maintain complex systems across our x64/x86 servers, applications, and virtualized environments. Implement web hosting technologies such as reverse proxies (HAProxy) and web servers (Tomcat, IIS).</li> <li><strong>Advanced Troubleshooting:</strong> Perform diagnosis of root cause for incidents, troubleshoot unique challenges, and execute full resolution steps, especially for VIP infrastructure.</li> <li><strong>Security &amp; Compliance:</strong> Implement and maintain robust system security measures, adhere to <strong>SOC1&amp;2</strong> security policies, and assist with audits. Work with 3rd-party cloud solutions (<strong>Akamai, Crowdstrike, Okta, Google, Microsoft</strong>) where appropriate. Implement Identity and Access Management best practices where appropriate.</li> <li><strong>Collaboration &amp; Mentoring:</strong> Work closely with IT Security, Middleware, IBMi, and other teams. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced Systems Engineers (Level I, II).</li> <li><strong>Strategy &amp; Research:</strong> Research new tools and services, leading deployment projects from beta testing to full rollout, and staying current with emerging technologies.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>5+ years of progressive experience in software or systems engineering.</li> <li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (relevant certifications and work experience may substitute for a degree).</li> <li>Solid scripting and automation experience.</li> <li>Advanced understanding of <strong>Windows</strong> and <strong>Linux</strong> Servers, and networking knowledge (<strong>OSI layers, TCP/IP</strong>).</li> <li>Experience with <strong>cloud infrastructure</strong> (AWS, Azure, GCP) and <strong>virtualization</strong>/<strong>containerization</strong> (Nutanix AHV/AOS is a plus).</li> <li>Familiarity with DevOps principles, Agile/Waterfall methodologies, and strong adherence to change control and documentation standards.</li> <li>Industry certifications such as <strong>CCNA, MCSE, or CISSP</strong> are a plus.</li> <li>Excellent analysis, critical thinking, and communication skills, with a methodical and detail-oriented approach.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Compensation:&nbsp;</strong>$90,000 - $130,000/year</p> <p>Compensation is based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, and industry background.
