Job Purpose

 

The IT User Support Analyst II is responsible for administering, supporting, and improving Valvoline Global’s directory services and Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms. This role requires hands-on experience with on-premises Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid directory synchronization, and Microsoft 365 administration.

This role handles escalated administration and troubleshooting for Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, directory synchronization, collaboration services, and related infrastructure. This is not a first-level service desk role. The successful candidate must be able to resolve technical issues, automate routine tasks, and work with limited direction.

This role interacts with IT Security, Infrastructure, Service Desk teams, and external vendors.

Primarily, this role will work with Engineering and Security internally to support secure, reliable, and well-managed directory and collaboration platforms for Valvoline Global.

As a support resource, this role will engage with VIPs and other internal customers. Strong communication, sound judgment, and the ability to explain technical issues clearly are required.

Vendors are often engaged when a solution cannot be found internally. This role will assist with vendor engagement, issue investigation, and follow-through to resolution.

 

How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)

 

  • Administer and troubleshoot on-premises Active Directory, including users, groups, OUs, GPOs, DNS, trusts, and Windows Server-related issues.
  • Support hybrid directory synchronization using Microsoft Entra ID Connect, Azure AD Connect, or Cloud Sync, including sync health, attribute issues, duplicate objects, and provisioning issues.
  • Administer Microsoft Entra ID components that support Microsoft 365 and hybrid directory environments, including users, groups, enterprise applications, MFA, Conditional Access, and access troubleshooting.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, licensing, mailboxes, groups, and service health.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft security and compliance capabilities, including MFA, Conditional Access, DLP, retention policies, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft Defender.
  • Create and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate user administration, mailbox tasks, license management, group management, reporting, and recurring operational work.
  • Support employee onboarding, offboarding, and account change processes from a platform administration perspective.
  • Support cloud-based storage and file platforms, including SharePoint Online, OneDrive, AWS FSx, Azure Files, or similar services.
  • Administer Power BI environments as needed, including tenant configuration, security, governance, reporting, and user enablement.
  • Document procedures, coach lower-level support resources, and work with IT Security, Infrastructure, Service Desk, and external vendors to resolve issues.

 

What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)

 

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, CIS or related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience administering Microsoft 365 and Active Directory
  • ITIL Foundations, Microsoft 365 Product Certifications

 

Competencies Desired

 

  • On-premises Active Directory administration, including GPOs, DNS, trusts, and Windows Server support.
  • Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD administration in a hybrid Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Hybrid directory synchronization using Microsoft Entra ID Connect, Azure AD Connect, or Cloud Sync.
  • Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, groups, licensing, and service health.
  • PowerShell scripting and administrative automation.
  • Microsoft security and compliance tools, including MFA, Conditional Access, DLP, retention policies, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft Defender.
  • Microsoft Intune, endpoint compliance, device management, and Autopilot.
  • End-user cloud storage platforms such as AWS FSx, Azure Files, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
  • ITSM experience using ServiceNow or a similar ticketing platform.
