About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Support Worker to join our team. This role involves providing practical, emotional, and cultural support to tāngata whai ora within the community and residential settings, supporting recovery journeys in alignment with Kaupapa Māori values.
You will work closely alongside clinicians, whānau, and community services to support wellbeing, independence, and connection.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support for tāngata whai ora in community settings
- Support wellness plans, goals, and daily living activities
- Build strong, respectful relationships with whānau and community partners
- Uphold tikanga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches in all mahi
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and reporting
- Participate in team meetings, training, and supervision
Skills & Experience
- Experience working in mental health, addictions, or community support (preferred)
- Strong understanding of Kaupapa Māori and whānau-centred practice
- Level 4 certificate in Mental health desirable – or willingness to work towards
- Ability to build trust and rapport with tāngata whai ora and whānau
- Good communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a kaupapa-driven team
Requirements
- Clean full New Zealand driver licence (essential)
- Eligible to work in Aotearoa New Zealand
- Willingness to undergo Police Vetting
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including some community-based mahi
- Te reo Māori me ōna tikanga (advantageous but not essential)
