About the role
Round Mountain and Bald Mountain are two key open-pit gold mines located in Nevada, both vital to Kinross Gold’s operations. Together, they form Kinross' Nevada operations, contributing significantly to the local economies of Nye County (Round Mountain) and White Pine County (Bald Mountain).
Both mines utilize conventional open-pit mining methods, with Round Mountain processing ore via mill and heap leach, and Bald Mountain benefiting from a large estimated mineral resource along the Carlin Trend, one of the world’s richest gold regions.
Round Mountain, which poured its 15 millionth ounce of gold in 2018, has become a leader in continuous improvement, while Bald Mountain supports the largest private mining land package in the U.S. Beyond their economic contributions, both mines are committed to sustainable practices, with Bald Mountain focusing on wildlife protection, habitat recovery, and education. Together, they not only boost regional economies but also contribute to healthcare and education improvements in their respective areas.
