This part-time position will be onsite at a CDC laboratory for 24 hours per week, the days are flexible. Core hours are 9:30-11:30 and also 1-3 p.m.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">The DHP Laboratory Branch (LB) supports DHP goals to reduce new HIV infections through supporting clinical studies, surveillance and implementation research. The LB conducts liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) testing of biological specimens to detect and quantitate antiretroviral and antimicrobial drugs using quantitative and qualitative assays to provide objective measures of drug use for HIV treatment and prevention. In addition, the clinical and research laboratories must follow and comply with safety and quality management systems (QMS), programs, regulatory guidelines, and standards.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">To conduct these activities, DHP LB needs laboratory assistants’ support.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Responsibilities</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Maintain knowledge of status, issues, training, and progress related to the Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO implementation and maintenance.</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Organize and store hardcopy and electronic files for SOPs, forms, and QA/QC manuals.</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Support the review and revision of equipment-related SOPs and forms; ensure revision dates and signatures are current.</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Prepare branch-level quality/progress reports; prepare equipment qualification and other reports.</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Effectively write and communicate QMS documents and requirements.</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Conduct quality reviews according to procedural criteria established in quality review plans for determining adherence to standards outlined for clinical laboratory practices.</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Qualifications</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science, medical technology, related field and at least </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">3-5 years in clinical or research laboratory experience <strong>OR</strong> a high school diploma and 6 years in clinical or research laboratory experience.</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Demonstrated laboratory regulatory skills/knowledge through work experience implementing, managing and maintaining quality management systems.</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Developing processes for and monitoring the performance of laboratory standard operating procedures based on laboratory regulatory policies and quality guidelines or standards, such as {the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), College of American Pathologists (CAP), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), or a similar body for laboratory accreditation).</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Must be able to obtain a NAC clearance</strong></span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">CLIA lab experience.</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Clinical laboratory experience.&nbsp;</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Master’s degree in in laboratory science, medical technology, or related field.</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Previous experience with federal or state health agency laboratory.&nbsp;</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Knowledge of HIV lab specimen handling or familiarity with testing and ordering.</span></li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
