Laundry Assistant - Job Description


OVERVIEW

Ensure smooth and efficient operations of the Laundry Department.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Washing, drying, ironing, steaming, labeling, and proper storage of linens.
  • Cleaning and polishing glassware and silverware. As well as plates and chinaware.
  • Pulling linens and rental items for jobs, as well as proper packaging for transport.
  • Proper upkeep of equipment and laundry area, ensuring a neat and hazard-free environment.
  • Operate commercial machines, dryers, and ironers.
  • Ability to hand sew linens and repair rental linens and other rental items.
  • Records all incoming and outgoing rental items and completes paperwork accurately.
  • Assist planners and walk-in customers with finding rental items in the warehouse.
  • Assisting on the event site where and when needed with the setting of software items.
  • Break down software items as needed based on the scale of the job and as needed to assist production.  
  • Check computer software for rental items to match with actual product count and quality.
  • Performing other duties which may be assigned from time to time.
  • Conducting a proper software inventory count throughout the year.


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Previous experience in a laundry facility.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience relevant to the role.
  • Capable of working under time restrictions, ability to understand and react to changing priorities.
  • Detail-oriented, positive attitude, and a professional presentation and approach to work.
  • The ability to work well within a team and be willing to take direction.
  • Education requirement: Basic education with good spoken English
  • A valid driver’s license with one year of minimum experience of driving in the Cayman Islands and knowledge of famous landmarks and roads.


Special Conditions

  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Work in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and Public Holidays as required.
  • Hours of work will vary due to the timing of events, workload, and seasonality of the business. Normal Business hours are from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Saturday, and normal working hours per week are 45 hours from Monday to Saturday.
  • A Non-Compete Confidentiality Agreement must be signed before commencement of employment.
  • Will be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
