Job Summary A Licensed Optician will achieve a world class Total Patient Experience that both maximizes retail sales while also supporting the patients’ medical needs. This team member is trained to dispense and fit glasses and contacts, working from the prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.  They connect the patient needs to the goods and services offered. This team member is also able to handle a wide range of duties while using optical equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam with an Optometrist.  Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities necessary to accomplish job functions)    <ul> <li>Embrace and execute our Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support</li> <li>Determine patient wants and needs and offering products to exceed their expectations</li> <li>Assist patients in selecting frames according to style and color, coordinating frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions</li> <li>Operate manual lensometer, auto-lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, GDX or OCT</li> <li>Educate and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames to suit patient needs</li> <li>Can accurately collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt</li> <li>Acknowledge patients in a friendly, approachable way that invites them into the office</li> <li>Maintain frame standards with cleaning, organization, full and well-presented areas</li> </ul> Education, Licensure & Certification Requirements <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED</li> <li>ABO Certification</li> <li>NCLE Certification</li> </ul>   Experience Requirements  <ul> <li>Previous medical office experience preferred; previous optometric experience strongly preferred.</li> <li>Associates Degree preferred</li> <li>Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or the equivalent combination of education and experience</li> </ul> Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements <ul> <li>Professional in appearance and actions</li> <li>Customer-focused with excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Favorable result on Background check</li> <li>Exhibits a positive attitude and is flexible in accepting work assignments and priorities</li> <li>Meets attendance and tardiness expectations</li> <li>Travel to other site locations may be necessary.
