If you enjoy being part of a collaborative team and thrive under pressure, we'd love to hear from you.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <p><strong>Food Preparation &amp; Cooking</strong></p> <ul> <li>Set up and stock food items, ingredients, and supplies needed for daily operations.</li> <li>Prepare food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces and other ingredients.</li> <li>Cook food items using a variety of methods, including grilling, frying, sautéing, and baking, according to recipes and quality standards.</li> <li>Ensure all food is prepared consistently and presented according to established standards.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Food Safety &amp; Sanitation</strong></p> <ul> <li>Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and kitchen areas.</li> <li>Properly handle, label, and store food in compliance with food safety and sanitation requirements.</li> <li>Clean and sanitize cooking surfaces, equipment, and work areas at the end of each shift.</li> <li>Follow all health, safety, and food handling guidelines.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Inventory &amp; Operational Support</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assist with inventory checks and monitoring of food supplies.</li> <li>Complete food storage and temperature logs accurately.</li> <li>Notify management of inventory shortages, quality concerns, or equipment issues.</li> <li>Support overall kitchen operations and assist team members as needed.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications &amp; Experience</strong></p> <p><strong>Required</strong></p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED.</li> <li>2–3 years of experience as a line cook, restaurant cook, prep cook, or similar food service role.</li> <li>Experience with various cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and food preparation procedures.</li> <li>Ability to follow recipes, directions, and instructions accurately.</li> <li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred</strong></p> <ul> <li>Certificate or coursework in Culinary Arts.</li> <li>Familiarity with industry best practices in food preparation and kitchen operations.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Skills &amp; Competencies</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.</li> <li>Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.</li> <li>Accuracy and speed in executing tasks.</li> <li>Dependability and strong work ethic.</li> <li>Commitment to food quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.</li> <li>Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.</li> <li>Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with repetitive lifting averaging 20 pounds.</li> <li>Ability to work in a kitchen environment with varying temperatures.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Additional Information</strong></p> <ul> <li>Availability to work during business operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.</li> <li>Position requires significant physical activity throughout the workday.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Pay Range:</p> <ul> <li>$14.90 - $19.95/hr</li> </ul> <p>Salary is commensurate to experience, location, etc.</p> <p>#APP</p><div class="content-conclusion"><p>Horace Mann was founded in 1945 by two Springfield, Illinois, teachers who saw a need for quality, affordable auto insurance for teachers.
