About the Role
Maintenance Associates are responsible for assisting in maintaining school buildings and grounds in top condition. Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in school buildings and grounds. Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.
About the Opportunity
- Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
- Maintenance duties include but are not limited to; electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing and some construction.
- Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
- Install appliances and equipment
- collecting trash from around school buildings and classrooms
- Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)
- Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)
- Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations
- Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues
- Experience using hand and electrical tools
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Two years (2) of maintenance experience
- Strong communication skills
- Growth mindset and a desire to learn and grow through consistent coaching and feedback
- A patient, resourceful, and resilient personality
- Belief that all students are capable of success and deserve to be pushed to a rigorous academic and behavioral bar
- Willingness to do whatever it takes and go above and beyond to serve all students, faculty, and parents
Physical Demands
- Prolonged long periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to climb ladders, bend or crawl into awkward places at times.
- Heavy physical demands lifting of 50 lbs are more periodically.
- Able to occasionally move about inside the office and school building to meetings and other assigned duties
- Occasionally ascend stairs to migrate throughout the workspace
