The incumbent provides strategic and operational legal and compliance support to senior leadership and departmental stakeholders. The role oversees corporate and academic file management, legal services support, contract creation and procurement processes, policy development, government relations support, and enterprise risk management initiatives. The Legal Assistance and Compliance Manager exercises a high degree of professional judgment and discretion in managing complex, sensitive, and confidential matters that may impact institutional compliance, legal standing, and reputation, ensuring both institutions operate in alignment with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, Ministry approvals, and contractual obligations.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Key Responsible Areas:</strong></span></p> <ul> <li><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Corporate and Academic File Management</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Government Relations</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Legal Services and Advisory Support</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Contract Creation and Procurement Management</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Policy Development and Institutional Compliance</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Risk Management and Business Continuity</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Leadership and Cross-Institutional Coordination</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>Qualifications and Skills:</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">The successful candidate shall possess the following skills and qualifications: </span></p> <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field required. A law degree (JD or equivalent), paralegal certification, or formal legal/compliance training is a strong asset.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in legal assistance, compliance, governance, or risk management, preferably within a post-secondary, education, or regulated environment.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Demonstrated experience managing contracts, policies, regulatory reporting, and compliance frameworks.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Experience supporting or liaising with government ministries or regulatory bodies.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Proven ability to manage highly confidential information with professionalism and discretion.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Experience working with senior leadership and within a matrix or dual-reporting structure</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks applicable to post-secondary and private education in Ontario.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Demonstrated leadership capability and ability to influence across organizational boundaries.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with high accountability.</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><em><strong>Application Process:</strong></em></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><em>To formally express your interest in this opportunity, please submit your resume and a brief cover letter.
