Manager- Components

Roles & Responsibilities:

 

1. Plan, organize, and control daily, weekly, and monthly production for aerospace sheet metal parts and assemblies

• Manage operations involving sheet metal fabrication processes, including:
  • Cutting, forming, bending, rolling
  • Press brake operations
  • Stretch forming, hydroforming (if applicable)
  • Riveting, fastening, and sub-assembly
• Ensure adherence to production schedules, takt times, and capacity plans
• Coordinate closely with Planning, Tooling, Engineering, and Quality teams

2. Quality & Compliance (Aerospace Standards)

• Ensure compliance with AS9100 / AS9145, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements
• Enforce process discipline, shop floor documentation, and traceability requirements
• Lead actions to reduce:
• Rejections
• Rework
• NCRs and escapes
• Support customer audits, internal audits, and regulatory audits
• Drive First Article Inspection (FAI) readiness and closure

3. People Management & Skill Development

• Lead, motivate, and develop:
• Production supervisors
• Technicians
• Sheet metal operators
• Conduct skill assessment and multi-skilling programs
• Plan and execute training on aerospace workmanship standards
• Ensure discipline, attendance, and ergonomic shop floor practices
• Promote a strong safety, quality, and accountability culture

4. Continuous Improvement & Productivity

• Implement Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma / Kaizen initiatives
• Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and shop efficiency
• Optimize manpower, tooling usage, and material flow
• Drive cost reduction initiatives without compromising aerospace quality

5. Equipment, Tooling & Maintenance Coordination

• Ensure availability and readiness of:
• Press brakes
• Shears
• Forming machines
• Fixtures and jigs
• Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance
• Support new machine/tooling commissioning and validation

6. Safety, EHS & 5S

• Ensure compliance with EHS and statutory safety requirements
• Drive 5S, visual management, and shop floor discipline
• Conduct safety reviews, risk assessments, and incident prevention activities

7. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Act as a single-point owner for sheet metal shop execution
• Interface with:
• Industrial Engineering
• Supply Chain
• Program Management
• Quality & MRB
• Support NPI (New Product Introduction) and ramp-up programs.

Experience : 10 - 12+ years  

 

 

Education : BE/ Diploma
