Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and hardworking Marine Construction Carpenter to join our dynamic team in Jacksonville. The ideal candidate will have strong carpentry skills, a solid understanding of marine construction techniques, and the ability to work outdoors in physically demanding environments. This role involves building and repairing structures in and around water, often from barges or piers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Construct, install, and repair docks, seawalls, boardwalks, bulkheads, and marine framing systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and project plans.
  • Operate power tools and heavy equipment (e.g., pile drivers, augers, lifts, saws).
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood and other materials accurately.
  • Work with treated lumber, composite decking, concrete forms, and marine hardware.
  • Perform work from barges, boats, scaffolding, or directly in the water as needed.
  • Ensure all work is completed according to safety regulations and company standards.
  • Assist with general labor tasks as needed on the job site.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience in carpentry, preferably in marine or heavy civil construction.
  • Ability to swim and work comfortably around water.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with marine construction materials and fasteners.
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials and work in all weather conditions.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain TWIC badge and Port badges to access Port Facilities


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working from barges or in/around tide-affected environments.
  • Knowledge of pile driving, jetting, or underwater structural supports.
  • Ability to operate small boats or barges.
