Marine Technical Advisor (Rig Move Operations)

About the role
Interocean are currently seeking two Marine Technical Advisors for immediate start who will be supporting a major offshore energy company.
The Marine Technical Advisor will be responsible for supporting the planning and safe execution of MODU rig moves.
Key duties include reviewing rig-move plans, coordinating with drilling contractor, marine contractors, and regulatory bodies, reviewing marine risk assessments, and ensuring all third-party services align with operational requirements.
Provides technical guidance during rig-move operations and supports all marine logistics to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review rig-move procedures, marine risk assessments, and operational documentation, including preparation of rig move schedule.
- Liaise with drilling contractor, marine contractors, survey teams, and regulatory authorities to ensure alignment across all parties.
- Monitor marine weather and conditions to support safe planning and execution.
- Provide real-time technical guidance during rig-move operations, including towing, positioning, and anchoring activities.
- Ensure all marine operations comply with company standards, industry regulations, and safety requirements.
- Support logistics, vessel coordination, and readiness checks for all third-party marine services.

- Marine Operations Expertise – Strong understanding of rig-move procedures, towing operations, positioning, anchoring, and offshore marine logistics.
- Technical Problem-Solving – Skilled in analysing operational challenges and providing effective, timely technical guidance.
- Communication Skills – Clear, concise communicator able to translate technical information for various audiences.
- Planning & Organisation – Capable of developing robust rig-move plans, documentation, and marine readiness requirements.
- Situational Awareness – Ability to monitor marine conditions and operational risks during planning and execution.
- Decision-Making Under Pressure – Confident making informed decisions in time-critical or dynamic marine environments.
- Team Collaboration – Works effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and with diverse offshore and onshore stakeholders.
Requirements
- STCW Chief Mate / Master Mariner (or equivalent)
- Offshore Safety Certifications (BOSIET/FOET)
- Experience as Tow Master/Marine Representative/Marine Warranty Surveyor (Jack Up and/or Semi Submersible) and/or experience serving onboard AHVs in a senior role
