Role description:
The Market Research Specialist is a key contributor to the research function, combining foundational and delivery-focused capabilities with a contributor mindset. This role is expected to go beyond execution by mentoring others, driving improvements, and applying general business area specialization to generate impactful insights. Specialists are proactive in shaping research outcomes and influencing team performance through technical knowledge and leadership behaviors.
Role accountabilities:
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Mentoring and Role Model to the Team
- Lead the design and execution of complex research projects, ensuring alignment with business needs
- Demonstrate ownership and persistence in driving research outcomes.
- Understand the type of insight that is sought after and how it will enable decision making
- Work together with junior colleagues and management on establishing procedures and tools for some of the repetitive types of tasks
- Work with management to prioritize business and information needs;
- Collaborate effectively across teams to facilitate teamwork and ensure high-quality deliverables
- Serve as a subject matter expert in at least one research domain or methodology
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation in research methodologies
- Act as core group lead within the team to review, assign, and monitor research progress of those under their subgroup
- Other administrative tasks as needed
Information gathering
- Use provided tools to gather and store the data collected from various published and unpublished sources to supplement market understanding and data collected from various market research initiatives
- For regular and on-going initiatives, update the database on regular basis
- Continuously search for new sources of information to support ongoing/regular initiatives, prepare innovative strategies to collect industry research, global competition, and client data;
Analysis
- Apply advanced analytical techniques to extract meaningful insights from diverse data sources
- Check the quality of data to be used (consistency, gaps, is it fit for the purpose)
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis, identify the limitations. Perform valid and reliable market research SWOT analysis, Porter’s Five Forces, and PESTLE Analysis (where needed)
- Perform both individual research projects with high complexity or work with a bigger team to coordinate all efforts on the project
Report Writing and Presentation
- Communicate insights with clarity and confidence to influence decision-making.
- Present the insights and data in various formats: graphs, presentations, short reports
- Formulate recommendations and identify opportunity areas
- Provide regular market research reports including searches on our key clients, key projects, industry news and competitors
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, economic or business related field
- Masters degree an advantage but not required
- With more than 5 years experience in research
- Search engines, web analytics and business research tools acumen
- Experience in mentoring and guiding junior team members
- Familiarity with cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Must be computer literate and have advanced knowledge of MS Office applications, ideally in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Extensive experience in market research, including both qualitative and quantitative methods
