About the role
- Attending construction and surfacing sites to conduct on-site sampling and testing of materials
- Performing laboratory testing on soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt
- Accurately recording and uploading test results using company systems (tablet provided)
- Liaising with site teams and colleagues to maintain quality, accuracy, and compliance
- Working shift patterns (day/night shifts and some weekends), with paid overtime
- Travelling across the Midlands in a company van (following initial onboarding)
- Adhering to all safety standards, including passing a Safety Critical Medical (paid for by us)
- Have experience in construction site work, materials testing, or a related technical environment
- Communicate clearly and work well independently
- Are confident using digital tools and Microsoft Office
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Possess a CSCS card (or are willing to obtain one)
- Are flexible with working hours and willing to travel
- UKAS/MCIT/Soils and Aggregates experience is desirable but not essential — full technical support will be provided.
- Salary of £29,000 – £32,000, depending on experience
- Signing-on bonus payable upon successful completion of probation
- We offer a referral reward of up to £500 after probation if you refer a successful hire
- 40 hours per week with overtime rates for evenings/weekends
- Company van, phone, and tablet (following training period)
- All required training and Safety Critical Medical paid for by MSS
