About the role

DEPARTMENT:                         OPERATIONAL SERVICES

 

JOB TITLE:                                 PROFESSIONAL  MECHANIC

                                                       (250 Day Contract)

 


REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education Level:                            Graduate of an accredited diesel mechanics program.

 

Experience Desired:                 Prior experience involving both gas and diesel engines. Must possess or be eligible for Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake and school bus endorsement.


Physical requirements:           Good physical health including ability to lift 75 pounds, reaching/handling, stooping/crouching, hearing (detecting air leaks a must) near/far visual acuity/depth perception and accommodation.

 

Working Conditions:                Occasionally subjected to mechanical hazards, extreme temperatures.

 

REPORTS TO:                            Coordinator of Operations

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

 


  1. Repair and maintain all vehicles and equipment in the fleet.

  2. Operate hand and power tools.

  3. Provide preventive maintenance for the purpose of maintaining vehicles and equipment in safe operating condition.

  4. Maintain tools, equipment and shop area for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required tools and equipment within a safe work area.

  5. Prepares documentation (e.g. repairs, maintenance records, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or information to comply with regulating guidelines.

  6. Performs minor body work (e.g. front ends, fenders, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the appearance and safe operation of the vehicles.

  7. Participate in various activities (e.g. meetings, training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and conveying information.

  8. Inspect vehicles according to the state of Virginia standards.

  9. Performs other duties assigned by Supervisor of Operations.

 

 

EVALUATION:              Annual evaluation performed by Coordinator of Operations
